Additional Info

Strawflower (Helichrysum bracteatum):

When to plant:

Start seeds indoors 4-6 weeks before the last expected frost date.

Transplant seedlings outdoors after the last frost when soil temperatures are consistently warm (around 60-70°F).

Where to plant:

Full sun (6-8 hours of direct sunlight per day).

Well-drained, slightly acidic to neutral soil (pH 6.0-7.0).

Strawflowers thrive in areas with warm, dry conditions.

Seed sowing depth:

Sow seeds on soil surface as light is required for germination.

Space seedlings 10-12 inches apart when transplanting outdoors.

Days to Maturity:

75-80 days

Additional note:

Strawflowers are excellent dried flowers. To dry, cut stems long and hang upside down in a cool, dry location with good air circulation. Their papery texture and bright colors make them ideal for use in dried arrangements.
