When to plant:
Start seeds indoors 4-6 weeks before the last expected frost date.
Transplant seedlings outdoors after the last frost when soil temperatures are consistently warm (around 60-70°F).
Where to plant:
Full sun (6-8 hours of direct sunlight per day).
Rich, moist, well-drained soil.
Seed sowing depth:
Start seeds in moistened folded paper towels until they begin to sprout and then gently transfer the seeds (root end down) ¼ inch deep into potting soil indoors.
Space seedlings 10-12 inches apart when transplanting outdoors.
Days to Maturity:
75-90 days
